• Biography presented in The History of Ashtabula County Ohio published in Philadelphia by Williams Brothers in 1878.
• In 1871 he was elected a county commissioner, an office he held for 12 years.
• Lost most of his property during the Depression of the 1890s.
• Died with an estate of only a few thousand dollars.
